Some people might call us a Muttley Crew

Yes, sometimes our homes are a mess, we’re covered in dog fur, and we’re not always cute and cuddly before our morning coffee, but we rescue hundreds of dogs from kill shelters and abusive homes every year. That counts for something, right?

This weekend our volunteers and pups will be in Smithfield, RI to talk to prospective adopters and volunteers. We’d love to meet you, please come by to say hello!             (We’ll try not to shed on you.)

Thank you Petsmart!

This weekend is Petsmart Charities National Adoption Weekend! Why does this excite us (besides the fact that a major pet supply chain supports adopting animals)? Or rather, why should this excite you?

Well…when you adopt a new member of the family at one of the many Petsmart locations not only are you saving a life, you get a coupon for a free bag of Purina Pro Plan brand food AND Petsmart will donate $35 to Friends of the Homeless Animals! That $35 helps to provide food, transport, and medical attention for the hundreds of dogs we save a year.

We will be at two Petsmart locations for this fun weekend, please come visit!

May 5th and 6th, Sat and Sun from 11-2 at Petsmart, 4 Cellu Dr, Nashua, NH

May 6th, Sun,  Petsmart, 1276 Bald Hill Rd, Warwick, RI

Come meet our pups in person!

I know, I know, our dogs all look so cute online! However, there is nothing like meeting the possible new member of your family in person, am I right? That’s why we love to hold adoption events at local stores all around New England! Here are just a few events we have coming up:

April 15th – Petco, 10am-3pm, 1465 Woodbury Avenue, Portsmouth, NH

April 21st -22nd – Petco, 10am-2pm, 1049 S Willow Dr, Manchester, NH

April 28th – Johnny’s Barkin’ Bakery, South Kingstown, RI. Check out the flyer below for this incredible event!

And that’s just April! You can check out more of our listings on our website. Remember, when you attend one of our adoption events you get lots of perks like certificates for a free checkup at area VCA hospitals, loads of coupons, and of course the best gift ever, the personal reward of saving an animal in need. See you there!

Thanks for making Bowling for Bostons a smashing success!

THANK YOU for your support of Bowling for Bostons!  Once again, this annual event was a huge success and we couldn’t have done what we did without you!

Tropical Dream is ready for her walk!

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, sponsors and volunteers, the food spread was beautiful and bountiful, the door prizes, raffle prizes and auction items were a huge draw (no one went home empty-handed), and everyone had a blast!  (See for yourself by view our photo album from the event)

We expect a final tally of money raised by Sunday, 3/25, but so far we have collected over $3000!  Simply put, that is an extraordinary amount of money for the dogs.  Every penny from that total goes right into helping save the lives of dogs we have in our rescue today.

We will use these funds on a variety of items including our spay & neuter program and vetting newly rescued dogs.  We currently have approximately 200 dogs in foster homes that are awaiting adoption.  To take a look at who is available, click HERE .

Once again, we sincerely THANK YOU for your contributions and continued support of Friends of Homeless Animals.   More importantly, THE DOGS THANK YOU, because without your assistance, they would not be afforded the second chance that we are able to provide for them.

An extra-special thanks from all of our dogs and volunteers to EMMA DAWLEY, Event Coordinator extraordinaire. We could not have done it without her! Thanks Emma!

We look forward to seeing you again next year, if not sooner!  If you have some time, please take a moment to fill out our survey, by clicking HERE,  so that we can bring you an even better event next year!

We’re hoping for the Luck o’ the Irish this weekend!

We’ve got some great meet-and-greet events coming up around New England! This coming weekend, March 17th & 18th, we’ll be at Petco at 1049 South Willow Ave in Manchester, NH from 10-2 each day. We’re hoping it will be a lucky day for dogs like our buddy Pedro! And his Boston terrier friend Bella:

Pedro, Bella and some other FOHA friends will be on hand at Petco for wet kisses and tail wags…please come by and say hello.

Can’t make it to Manchester? We’ve got another event happening in Warwick, RI! Please see our website for all of the details and check back here for the latest news.

Friends of Homeless Animals, Inc. eat their way to a $300 donation!

You can help us keep our furry friends like Bailey (below) out of the shelter and into the arms of a loving family…all by eating out at your local Ruby Tuesday

School vacation week is generally a time to kick back and relax and spend time with your family.  This past February school vacation seemed to be all of that for our FOHA volunteers, friends and families.

Thanks to the generosity of Ruby Tuesday’s Community GiveBack program, along with all of the FOHA volunteers and friends that participated, we were able to raise a little over $300 in a cash donation for our rescue.

Here is how it works:  FOHA chooses the Ruby Tuesday restaurants that we know we can generate a lot of traffic to.  We then make contact with the store manager and fill out the necessary paperwork for the event and email it back to them.

Once our requested dates are approved, Ruby Tuesday sends us the flyers to distribute.  Then, it is off to dine during the promotional event.  You must present your flyer to your server when you pay your tab in order for us to get credit.

We are looking to do this event again during April school vacation.  We will repeat this fundraiser at our original stores in RI & NH.  If you have a Ruby Tuesday close to you and you want to have them participate so we can expand our relationship with them that would be great!  Send a quick email to Friendsoha@yahoo.com and we will send you the forms needed to get that restaurant enrolled.

A very special thanks goes to Mary Jo Boxer for finding this fundraising opportunity for FOHA and making all of the initial contacts!

Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue!

We are so happy to be Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue ambassadors! This weekend we will be at Petco at 1049 So. WIllow Street in Manchester NH to show off our wonderful dogs that are up for adoption!

Not only that, but you can go to Petco in person or online to participate in our raffle to benefit the animals…all proceeds help us continue to provide safe homes and much-needed care for neglected and abused dogs including all of our adoptable dogs here on Petfinder.

Hope to see you there!

We save the saddest cases, so can you.

An Indiana Puppy Mill is just one of the worst offenders, but at FOHA, Inc., we never give up, even on the most tragic cases.

Thai is just one of six Boston Terriers that needed immediate and acute medical attention after they were rescued from the horror of a puppy mill. Please visit our website to donate to their growing medical bills, even $5 makes a difference
